B-vitamin complex forte Review Article

Vitamin B complexB-vitamins belong to the group of vitamins that are soluble in water and play crucial roles in the process of cell metabolism. In the past, it was believed that B-vitamins are a single vitamin similar to Vitamin A, Vitamin C, etc. and was called Vitamin B. It was later discovered that B-vitamins are chemically diverse vitamins that are usually present in the same foods (usually, whole unprocessed foods). Thus, a supplement that contains all the eight B-vitamins is referred to as B-vitamin complex. B-vitamins are essential in supporting and increasing metabolic rate, maintaining healthy muscle tone and skin, enhancing immunity and functions of the nervous system, promoting cell growth and cell division, and reducing the risk of having pancreatic cancer.

B-Vitamin complex forte contains the most important components of the B vitamin group as well as Vitamin C and Zink. The B vitamins are necessary for tissue respiration, for generating energy, and for sustaining mental and emotional health. Continue reading...

Vitamin B1 (thiamine) plays an important role in regulating the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, minerals and water. It has a beneficial effect on tissue respiration (internal respiration), on the nervous system, the cardiovascular system and the digestive system.

The daily necessary intake of vitamin B1 is 2 mg. However, it should be increased when the diet includes a high number of carbohydrates. It should be raised to more than 2 mg a day in case of fever, intestinal diseases, increased thyroid function (hyperthyroidism), neuritis, and radiculitis.

Vitamin B2 is a vitamin necessary not only for health, but also for beauty. It is a "skin" vitamin. If you want to have an elastic, young, smooth, healthy skin, make sure that your diet is rich in vitamin B2.The lack of vitamin B2 results in wrinkles, cracked lips, peeling skin, and greasy hair.

Among the most important medicinal consequences of Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) should be mentioned the significant impact on eyesight as well as the prolongation of the life of red blood cells. Vitamin B2 together with folic acid (vitamin B9) is involved in the creation of new blood cells in the bone marrow.

If you keep suffering from mood swings and irritation, your skin looks unhealthy and it is covered with spots, if you experience frequent indigestion, insomnia and headaches, it is most likely that you are not getting enough of the Vitamin B3 or niacin. Vitamin B3 is necessary against fatigue, absent-mindedness, muscle weakness, lack of appetite, pustules, bad breath, ulcers (aphthae) on the inside of cheeks and lips, increased sensitivity of gums, headaches, unexplained nighttime anxiety, diarrhea, and nausea. The most unusual property of niacin is related to its involvement in the synthesis of serotonin, which is essential for sound sleep and a goodmood.

Also, niacin reduces the level of cholesterol and fat and dilates blood vessels facilitating blood flow. This makes Vitamin B3 an effective solution against migraine headaches.

The daily recommended intake for niacin is 15 to 20 mg. This amount is contained in a cup of peanuts. Yet, it is destroyed by sugar, sugary drinks and sweets, which means that those who have a sweet tooth should increase the daily intake of B3. The same goes for pregnant and lactating women.

Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) is an integral part of many enzymes involved in protein, carbohydrate and fat metabolism; it also stimulates the production of adrenal hormones.

Pantothenic acid is contained in liver, kidney, egg yolk, lean meat, milk, fish, peas, wheat bran, and yeast. However, up to 25% of vitamin B5 is lost when cooking.

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) is essential for the normal functioning of the central and peripheral nervous system. It enlivens the amino acids, soothes nerves and creates a good mood. According to a Canadian psychiatrist, Dr. Hoffer, three-quarters of all people with mental disorders should be administered increased doses of vitamin B6. It plays an important role in the immune system as well. Pyridoxine is involved in the production of red blood cells and of their coloring pigment - hemoglobin.

Vitamin B7 or Biotin is sometimes called "the vitamin of beauty". This is due to the fact that biotin deficiency results in brittle hair and nails, and flabby skin. Vitamin B7 is many times used in makeup preparation. It also boosts energy, it is involved in regulating the level of cholesterol, it is mediating the regulation of the level of glucose in the blood, it increases appetite, and it accelerates the growth of children. Biotin is easily digested but it is not assimilated. Its digestion may also be slowed down or inhibited by the consumption of excessive alcohol, coffee, deep-fried foods, and raw eggs.

Vitamin B9 (folic acid) is most widely known for its importance during pregnancy. It prevents fetal abnormalities, it encourages growth and development. However, it is also responsible for the brain and the nervous system, it is an active component of spinal fluid and it is indispensable in the production of red blood cells. Furthermore, folic acid is actively involved in making us cheerful. It has been established that approximately 30% of all patients who come to psychiatrists suffer from a strongly reduced content of folic acid in the blood.

Vitamin B12 is actively involved in the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates in close cooperation with vitamin C, folic acid (B9), and pantothenic acid (B5). It stimulates growth, normal blood formation and maturation of red blood cells; it normalizes liver functions and it is also involved in the correct functioning of the nervous system. In addition, it activates the blood coagulation and has a favorable effect on carbohydrates’ metabolism. Most recently obtained evidence show that vitamin B12 is essential in the formation of bones. Vitamin B12 deficiency leads to nervous disorders. If you wake up feeling depressed and continue being nervous and irritated during the day, you may consider malnutrition and deficiency of B12.

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that protects the body from bacteria and viruses. It has an anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effect, and it boosts up the immune system. A shock dose of vitamin C helps overcome colds and accelerates wound healing. It also has anti-cancer properties and slows the aging process. It is important to note that contraceptives reduce the effectiveness of vitamin C.

Zinc is necessary for normal functioning of every cell in the body. Zinc is part of the enzymes and complexes that ensure essential physiological functions such as the formation, growth and metabolism of cells, protein synthesis, wound healing, the activation of immune responses against bacteria, viruses, tumor cells, the absorption of carbohydrates and fats, the maintenance and improvement of memory capabilities. It is involved in the gustatory and olfactory sensitivity, in the stability of the retina and lens clarity, in the normal development and functioning of genitalia. It plays a critical role in the regeneration of skin, hair and nail growth, and in the secretion of the sebaceous glands.
