The anti-cancer effect is primarily attributed to the stimulation of the immune system exercised by vitamin E. However, new studies show that vitamin E directly inhibits the growth of cancer cells and it doesnít only prevent cancer development.

In monkeys, which were given 108 IU of vitamin E per day for three years in a row, the clogging of arteries caused by high-fat diets, decelerated and even started to subside. These data were obtained during a study conducted at the Atherosclerosis Research Laboratory of the University of Mississippi. Throughout the experiment, the animals were constantly fed fatty foods. In those monkeys who concomitantly received vitamin E, 5-fold a reduction in the clogging of arteries was observed. Not only that but in some monkeys with advanced vascular diseases, vitamin E cleared almost 60% of plaques on the arteries. Thrombus formation became less frequent and even decreased from the average 35% to 15% within two years!

The important fact is that the experts from Harvard, Dr. Mayr Stampfer and Dr. Eric Rimm, emphasize that the amount of vitamin E from food aliments is not enough to prevent heart attacks. Consequently, the two authors advise on taking Vitamin E supplements, which is exactly what the two of them do. However, following the results of their study, any dose exceeding 250 IU no longer reduces the chance of a heart attack.
