Piracetam (also known as Nootropyl) is a nootropic drug that induces the improved utilization of Oxygen in the body thereby improving the state of the patient. As it improves the supply of Oxygen to the brain, it also improves the cognition, concentration and memory of the patient. It is used to treat patients who suffer from mental syndromes which include cerebral deficiencies and senility syndromes. Side effects of taking Piracetam are not indicated as there are rare occasions when effects are felt by the patient. Moreover, Piracetam has not been out to have any contradictions against other medications. It is also not contracted or dangerous to patients who are nursing or are pregnant.

A review on Piracetam and TRH analogues antagonise inhibition by barbiturates, diazepam, melatonin and galanin of human erythrocyte D-glucose transport. Past researches proved that nootropic drugs increase glucose uptake into anaesthetised brain. It also increases the glucose uptake into Alzheimer's diseased brain.
